FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?
A: Yes! You must be 18 years or older and have a valid driver’s license to drive; passengers for Ride Alongs must be 14 years old or older. You must be between 5’ - 6’6” and between 100 lbs. - 360 lbs. to drive.
Q: DO I NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION?
A: Yes! All of our events are by appointment only. Our schedule can fill up quite fast so it is highly recommended that you make your reservation well in advance of your desired date and time. To schedule your event, click on the BOOK icon above, email us at info@theracingschool.net or call 1-877-226-7223.
Q: HOW DO I USE MY VOUCHER CODE?
A": If you ordered a voucher through a third party site, you will enter that code in the Promotional Code box on the booking page. You can click the link above to see the venue, availability and to book.
Q: MY VOUCHER HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE BEFORE ANY OF YOUR AVAILABLE DATES. WILL IS STILL BE VALID THEN?
A: For redeeming vouchers, you will need to schedule before the expiration date. You do not need to be on the track before then. Please be aware that ALL VOUCHERS have expiration dates even if it is not on the voucher itself. Contact your voucher provider to clarify the expiration date.
Q: DO I NEED ANY RACING EXPERIENCE?
A: NO! Just a need for speed and the desire to drive a racecar! We are able to handle all levels of experience from complete novice to experienced racer.
Q: WILL I BE DRIVING BY MYSELF?
A: YES! We provide a radio headset attached to your helmet that allows you to be in contact with your spotter. The spotter will oversee the entire track as you and the other participants drive solo.
Q: HOW LONG IS THE WHOLE DRIVING EXPERIENCE?
A: The whole driving experience will last about 2.5 - 3.5 hours long. You will need to arrive half an hour earlier than your scheduled time to fill out paperwork and get your suit and helmet. Once your scheduled time begins, you will start your 45 minute orientation. After, you will head to the track in small groups of 4-5 people. Ride Alongs will go first and then the driving packages. When it’s your groups turn, you will be strapped into your designated racecar by a TRS official and you will start driving by yourself in the racecar!
Q: DO I HAVE TO FOLLOW A PACE CAR?
A: No! The Racing School is one of the only driving experiences that do NOT require you to follow a pace car. Whatever package you purchased will be all GREEN LAPS (you don’t pay for yellow/caution laps).
Q: DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
A: Yes! Please be sure to bring your DRIVER’S LICENSE. You absolutely must have this with you at check-in or you will not be able to race. Sneakers or tennis shoes are also required. You cannot drive a racecar wearing boots, sandals or flip-flops. We recommend you wear something light and comfortable as you will wear a driving suit over your clothes.
Q: CAN I BRING MY FAMILY?
A: YES! You are definitely welcome to bring family members along to watch. There are ample spots at all of our tracks for your audience. You’ll need to keep the weather in mind as this is an outdoor event, so it may not be appropriate for the very young or the elderly. As per insurance regulations, we do not allow pets at our events.
Q: CAN I BRING MY OWN GO-PRO OR DRONE?
A: No! You cannot bring either of these items to our events. Your family is welcome to film from the stands or check out our in-car videos for purchase!
Q: DO YOU OFFER PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEO OF MY EXPERIENCE?
A: Yes, we offer in-car videos and photography to remember your day at the racetrack.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
A: In cases of inclement weather, all participants may reschedule for a later date at no extra cost. This has no effect on any voucher expiration date. You will have one year from rain cancellation to reschedule.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF I WRECK?
A: You are responsible for your health insurance. An insurance policy is available for $55.00 for damage to the racecar, subject to a $1,500.00 deductible. Due to the quality of our training and racecars, damage is rare.
Q: WILL MY CURRENT CAR INSURANCE COVER ME AT AN EVENT?
A: No, as mentioned above we offer a vehicle protection policy for a small fee of $55 subject to a $1,500 deductible.
Q: CAN I RESCHEDULE?
A: Yes, but there is a $50 rescheduling fee.
Q: ARE THE CARS AUTOMATIC OR MANUAL?
A: We have both available! We are the only racing school to offer both to provide the most favorable and comfortable experience.
Q: MY GROUPON EXIPIRES BEFORE THERE IS AN AVAILABLE RACE DATE?
A: You must be in our system before the expiration date found on your groupon. You do not need to physically race before the expiration date. You can make a booking yourself using the booking tab or contact us directly to be added onto our schedule.
Q: CAN I STILL ATTEND MY RACE EVENT DUE TO THE COVID-19 CONNECTICUT TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS?
A: Yes! The 10 day mandatory quarantine for traveling into Connecticut does not apply to individuals who plan on spending less than 24 hours. Also if you are traveling from NY, NJ or Rhode Island the 10 day quarantine would not apply.
